Cookie Cutter Candles

What do you do with those used half melted candles? Recycle them. Cookie cutters can be used as molds for making your own floating candles.

Ingredients:
cookie cutters(simple broad shapes such as stars work very well)
non stick cooking spray
wax from used candles or wax candle making blocks
double boiler
1 1/4" metal-tabbed tealight wicks
aluminum foil
masking tape
stirring implement

Directions:
1.Run masking tape along the edge of the cookie cutters, snip at corners, fold tape back, sit cookie cutters flat on aluminum foil and secure to foil with the tape.
2. Coat cookie cutters with non stick cooking spray.
3. Place used candles in double boiler over simmering water.
4. Stir wax as it melts and remove old wicks using the stirring implement(craft sticks work well).
5. When wax reaches pouring temperature(150-160 degrees Fahrenheit or when a thin film forms at edges)pour into molds.
6. Lower new wicks into wax.
7. Allow to harden for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
8. When wax has hardened lift candles out by wicks(if they stick put them in the freezer until they come out easily).
9. If necessary, trim wicks to 1/4" before burning.
